Strange Beautiful Music (SBM) is New Music Detroit’s annual multi-day new music marathon concert. Held in Detroit every September since 2007, SBM runs the gamut of new music - from contemporary classical and world music to experimental "out" jazz, free improvisation, techno, electronica, neo-soul, ambient and music that defies genre!

Join New Music Detroit as we celebrate our 19th year of bringing together all the strange and beautiful sounds of Detroit! Seminal ambient soundscapes, cosmic jazz, electronic improvisation infused with the spirit of Beirut’s underground scene, neo-Soul rituals/performance art, tapestries weaving together contemporary dance and electronic composition, and many, many more sonic surprises in store.
